PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT

JOB TITLE: Personal Care Attendant

DIRECT SUPERVISOR:  Administrator

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:  Full or Part Time

JOB SUMMARY:

A Personal Care Attendant (PCA) provides high-quality care and support to individuals who require help with daily tasks due to various conditions and disabilities or age-related needs. They play a crucial role in ensuring that individuals who may have difficulty performing daily activities on their own receive the necessary support and care to maintain their independence and quality of life.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Responsible, dependable with a positive attitude

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Previous experience in caregiving or related field preferred

  • Bilingual is a plus

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Background check and Fingerprint clearance

  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification

  • Current TB Test and Physical Exam (within the last 6 months)

  • Current Elder Abuse Certificate

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist client with activities of daily living and personal care functions as specified in the care plan; such as but not limited to light housekeeping, meal preparation, dressing and grooming, companionship, and running errands.

  • Observe and promptly report any sudden or unusual changes in the client’s condition or any deviations from the care plan to the administrator/designee.

  • Ensure all documents such as patient records and time sheets are accurate, complete, and submitted timely.

  • Maintain client confidentiality per HIPAA privacy and agency policy guidelines.

  • Adhere to the standards, policies, and procedures of the agency.

  • Maintain timely attendance and avoid tardiness when reporting to client's home.

  • Attend agency's required in-services and trainings and must be able to make up said requirements if unable to attend.

  • Notify administrator/designee if any assigned task conflicts with personal or religious belief.

  • Adhere to the dress code and wear ID badge during shift.

  • Perform other Personal Care Attendants duties as assigned by administrator/designee.
